The best foundation...

             isn't a foundation

Believe it or not the best foundation is no foundation. There are many new brands with so many shades that aim to satisfy the necessity of finding the perfect match foundation, surely more choice equals less chance of getting it wrong? Nope. These brands have products that melt into you like second skin once you understand your undertone, hue, skin type, areas of highlight and depth in tone. It's a tall order, even for us makeup artists, as both a photographer and makeup artist, I know that additionally how foundation looks to the eye is not always how it looks on camera - the plot thickens!

Fortunately there are an increasing number of primers that give skin a flawless look with minimal change to the skin itself - less chance to get it wrong! yay! Using a great primer with concealer in some key areas (use liquid not powder as it distributes evenly as it mixes with your skin's oils) can give you that second skin, fault-proof finish. For that airbrushed look - use a mattifying primer on your t-zone and a light reflecting, dewy primer on the rest of your face.

The first look is achieved using Charlotte Tilbury Wonderglow Face Primer and the second using

MARC JACOBS BEAUTY Under(Cover) Perfecting Coconut Face Primer.
