Some of the most luxury hotels from Argentina to Austria are former residencies of royals & wealthy families. The beauty of their architecture & interiors serve in both celebrating and muting the imperial agendas they maintain. Although a  wealth familiar to many Africans permits access to these grand residencies; there remains a colonial stain that denies the Other to ‘feel at home’. The Welcome Home series explores the interruption and transformation of colonial spaces by extending the notion of being at home to feeling at home. In framing a familiarity with luxury as if it were experienced as frequently as one's home, I aim to illustrate that belonging is a feeling possible in any space we occupy without apology.
